Meet Our Team

Ms. Libby

Director

Ms. Libby is no stranger to the arts. She’s been involved in the Performing Arts community for decades through musical theater, singing, dancing, and piano playing. Some of her favorite musicals she’s danced and performed in were South Pacific, Hello Dolly, Die Fledermaus (The Opera), and The Wiz. Her past teaching experience is with children’s musical theater dance, ballet, tumbling, and jazz. She very much enjoys teaching and working with children, and she loves seeing how much joy the children get out of their classes and performances.

Ms. Libby’s dance training started in Alaska with Royal Academy of Dance instruction in ballet, and several amazing teachers. She soon found herself receiving numerous Merit Scholarships around the country to top-notch dance schools for ballet, modern, and Jazz. When she was 12 years old, she received a ballet scholarship to a school in Walla Walla, Washington. As a teenager, she was recruited by the director of the Oakland Ballet Company and also recruited by the director of the North Carolina School of the Arts. She then received a scholarship to the National Academy of the Arts in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois where she continued her ballet, modern, and jazz training. From there, she received 2 separate scholarships to Gus Giordano’s jazz dance school in Evanston, Illinois. After completing her schooling there, she received a full merit scholarship to the prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance School in New York City where she trained in Ballet, Martha Graham modern, Horton modern, and Dunham modern (from Katherine Dunham herself).

Ms. Libby quite frequently had the opportunity to perform for the likes of the Belafonte family, Sidney Poitier, and Alvin Ailey himself. She was also invited to perform with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in numerous performances. While at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Ms. Libby was also fortunate enough to be able to train amongst the famous and incredibly talented Gregory Hines tap dancer/movie star who would come to the studio to practice and rehearse. From there, she also trained at the Jose Limon school of modern dance, Steps on Broadway (Jazz) Dance School, and the Martha Graham school of modern dance (with Martha Graham herself).

Her love for the Arts eventually brought her to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City where she worked in the tour area where tours of the Metropolitan Opera House, New York State Theater, and Avery Fisher Hall were given.  Her job at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts afforded her the amazing opportunity to work around legends like the famous Opera singer Pavarotti and the famous dancer and movie star, Mikhail Baryshnikov.

As a former professional dancer, soloist, and principal dancer, Ms. Libby has done back-up singing, sung in operas, danced in musicals, danced for boy bands, and has performed and danced locally and internationally all over the world. She’s performed at Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the United Nations, various places all over New York City, Philadelphia, Alaska, and internationally in places like: Russia, Mexico, and Japan. Her specialty is in dance, where she was able to perform with the likes of George Benson, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the Rod Rogers Dance Company where she was a member of their modern dance company in New York City, and the famous and popular Russian boy band – HaHa (pronounced NaNa).

She is a former proud board member of the Scottsdale Ballet Foundation, in Scottsdale, Arizona where she enjoyed giving speeches as well as coordinating and planning fundraisers. She enjoys bringing her love of the performing arts to others and hopes they will enjoy and love it as much as she does. Ms. Libby brings an abundance of experience, knowledge, and fun to Get On Stage.
